Morristown Certification Update
We're in the home stretch! The businesses, residents and local government here in Morristown have all contributed to a new and exciting Sustainable Jersey certification effort. For months our municipality has been earning and documenting points through various sustainable initiatives - like expanding recycling programs, supporting farmers markets, and conducting energy audits – to achieve certification and ultimately become a Sustainability leader in New Jersey.
Morristown has been at the forefront of sustainability in Morris County, and this certification is a critical step we can take to bring our work to the next level. The entire town has contributed to this effort, and the entire town will benefit when we reach this goal. The whole idea surrounding sustainability is to improve our quality of life, and becoming officially certified will only make that more attainable. Specifically, the certification makes Morristown eligible for thousands of dollars in state grants that would help fund a variety of community improvement projects.
With our 10 Step Pledge push last month we were able to submit 150 points – 50% more than required – towards achieving this valued certification. Keep an eye on this Sustainable Jersey update page for the latest news, and thanks to everyone who pitched in!
